1996 Guest Lecturer at Art Centre School of Design, Pasadena, California - 13th February.
1996 Tutored "Drawing" and "Children's Picturebook Design" for the Spring Semester at the Rhode Island School of Design - February to end of May.
1997 Gave lectures and ran a workshop on Children's Picture Book Illustration and Design in Jakarta for ACCU, (UNESCO) Tokyo.

Literary Activities

1990s Served as Assessor for many years on the Creative NZ Literature Grants Committee Assessment Panel.
1992 Traveled as "International Expert and Picture book Artist", for Training Programmes in Beijing and Shanghai, China - organized by the Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO for the PAC (Publishers' Association of China).
1992 Member of the Children's Literature Grants committee of the NZ Arts Council to allocate grants. Meeting in Wellington - November.
1993 Judge for the New Zealand Aim Children's Book Awards.
1993 Arts Council Grant, International Cultural Exchange Scheme to the USA.
1994 Designed 12 covers for a Pre-school magazine for Chinese children, published by the Shanghai Children and Juvenile Publishing House.
1994 December 4th to January 5th - Promotional trip to Boston, New York. Two lectures at Rhode Island School of Design.
1995 Designed the poster for the First Christchurch Book Festival.
1996 Guest lecturer at the Centre School of Design, Pasadena, California - 13th February.
1996 Guest lecturer in Drawing and Picture book Design at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, USA - February – June.
1997 Author of a module on Writing and Illustrating for Children for the National Diploma of Children's Literature- Department of Extension Studies, College of Education, Christchurch.
1997 Creative New Zealand Project Grant to work full-time for 8 months of 1998.
1997 Travelled as "International Expert and Picturebook Artist", in Training Programmes in Jakata, Indonesia - organized by the Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO.
1998 Designed poster for Canterbury Opera's September production of Eugene Onegin.
1998 Visited China in July/August at the invitation of the NZ China Friendship Society.
2002 Guest Judge for the Noma Concours International Competition for Children’s Picture Book Art in Tokyo, Japan - December.
2002 Smash Palace Art and Science Collaboration Grant with the HIT Lab, Canterbury University 2002 to produce the world’s first 3-dimensional animated picture book.
2000-04 Member of The Press Ch Ch Writers’ Festival Trust.
2004 Creative New Zealand Project Grant to work full-time for 12 months.
2005 Assessor for the Smash Palace Art and Science Collaboration Initiative funded by MORST and Creative NZ.
2006 Member of Te Tai Tamariki / Aotearoa New Zealand Children’s Literature Charitable Trust.
2006 Lecturer at Autumn Art School, Wanaka – April.
